Rap superstar A$AP Rocky is hard at work on his fourth studio album, tentatively titled “All Smiles,” and set for release by the year’s end, 2022.
To mark the upcoming IPO, A$AP and his AWGE-affiliated brand have specialized in the type of enigmatic promotion that they have come to master on Instagram.
Unofficially, A$AP and his creative crew have been releasing music through their Instagram profiles for the past year.
There has been a back-and-forth between fans who applaud the strategy and those who dismiss it,
with the latter arguing in online comments and offline social circles that the tactic doesn’t accomplish much beyond agitating the fans who desperately want to buy a legitimate copy of the song on streaming services like Spotify or digital music retailers like iTunes or a brick-and-mortar record store.
Despite this, A$AP released his new track “Our De$tiny” along with a music video on the Instagram platform.
The video follows A$AP, fellow rapper Playboi Carti, and a man who “eerily resembles” Grammy Award-winning artist Beck (per The FADER), and gives viewers a glimpse inside the preparations for, and aftermath of, a rowdy festival featuring several versions of A$hit AP’s songs.
Since being posted to Instagram on Friday, the video has received more than 8 million views. The song has not been officially released on any digital retail outlets,
but it is being promoted as a single because it will be included in the upcoming album “All Smiles” (2022).
The video is available below the break.
