A strange predicament faces the Lions in 2022 when the NFL season begins.
“Hard Knocks” is making its debut on HBO this season, and Detroit is looking forward to coaching Dan Campbell’s second season as the team’s featured squad for the first time. It’s been a year since the team’s 3-13-1 debut under Campbell brought multiple heartbreaks.
The HBO docuseries “Hard Knocks” hasn’t exactly been synonymous with success, as nine of the 17 teams featured in the show went on to losing seasons. To be fair to both of those teams, the Lions aren’t exactly a hot commodity in the NFL right now.
That seven teams from “Hard Knocks” made the playoffs is noteworthy, as six of those teams had double-digit wins. Preseason camp is the best time of year to have hope for the next season.
Having said all that, here’s all the information you need to know about the 2022 “Hard Knocks” documentary featuring the Lions.

How Have Featured Teams on ‘Hard Knocks’ Fared?
“Hard Knocks” will feature the Detroit Lions for the 18th time in its 17-year history. In 2020, the Rams finished with a record of 10-6, while the Chargers finished with a record of 7-9.
Following their appearance on “Hard Knocks,” the Dallas Cowboys reached the playoffs for the second time in as many years in 2021. The Lions’ best chance of winning the NFC North is to finish third (which would give the team its first playoff appearance since 2016).
Allen Park, Mich., has a lot to offer this season, not the least of which is Campbell, the Lions’ most intriguing player. He’s instilled a lot of faith in a team that hasn’t had a lot of it in the past.
Whether Jared Goff will be more successful in 2022 with a receiving group that includes Amon-Ra St. Brown and first-round NFL draught pick Jameson Williams is another scenario under consideration.
