Mon, a record 12 manatees were released into Blue Spring in west Volusia County by members of the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership. Many manatees were rescued as orphaned calves along Florida’s east coast and have been rehabilitated in institutions from Florida to Ohio, according to bios provided by Save the Manatee Club and other partners. However, the animals are still doing well in Blue Spring, where this season, hundreds of different manatees have been counted.
