Martin Lohmann

On Monday, August 15th, 2022, at the age of 100, Martin Lohmann passed away at The Bridges Assisted Living Facility in Zumbrota.

Martin was born to H. August and Margaret (Bargsten) Lohmann on November 1, 1921, in Zumbrota Township, Minnesota.

Martin grew up in the Zumbrota community and has never lived anywhere else. For 26 years he farmed, then he worked as a carpenter for 8, drove a school bus for 9, and then he sold insurance for 40 years. Martin managed a machine shop in addition to his three sawmills.

Dorthy Closner

Dorthy Marie Closner, 81, passed away at Mayo Health System-Methodist Campus in Rochester on Monday, August 15, 2022.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., guests may pay their respects at the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.

David Friese will then preside over a brief service at Pine Island Cemetery. Dorthy Marie Vagt was born to Alvin and Alice (née Watson) Vagt on April 10, 1941, in Rochester. Dorthy went to a school in the Byron area.

Randall Moyer

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the age of 66, Randall H. Moyer passed away in his Lake City home. His parents, Robert and Ethel (Willers) Moyer, gave birth to Randall H.

Moyer on March 2, 1956, in Lake City. He completed his high school education at Lake City’s Lincoln in 1974. Following 23 years of duty in the Army Reserve, Air Force, and Air Force Reserve, Randall decided to call it quits.

He was a participant in the Desert Shield/Storm operations. The Armed Forces Reserve Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Air Force Training Ribbon were all awarded to him.

Gerald Fick

On August 13, 2022, Gerald R. Fick, 85 years old, passed away at the Lake City Care Center. On April 15th, 1937, in Lake City, Minnesota, Gerald Fick was born to Lawrence and Harriet (Hoeft) Fick. In 1957, Gerald enlisted in the military.

He stayed in the service until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. On November 22, 1958, in the United Methodist Church in Lake City, Gerald wed Arlene Moechnig.

Before retiring in 1989 and relocating to Lake City, they farmed in Gillford Township.
