The public was recently invited into the soon-to-open Chophouse on Main with a restricted menu so that people in the Champaign County region could get a sneak peek at what’s to come.
The owners of The Ribeye, a popular restaurant in Champaign-Urbana, have opened a new restaurant called Chophouse on Main. They have relocated to Mahomet and taken over the location formerly occupied by JT Walker’s.
You may still see JT Walker’s on social media and at a similar address, but now you’ll be directed to Chophouse on Main. In the future, the taproom (which now serves drinks) just across the street from Chophouse on Main will also offer meals.
Despite this, the atmosphere was at once cozy and modern as we entered Chophouse on Main.
The entrance to the main level dining area is located at 401 E. Main. According to the website, the restaurant would feature “two levels of high-quality dining, wine, and drinks.”
The downstairs area (and its menu) will be fancier, while the upper and rooftop areas will be more laid-back. When you arrive, you can specify your preferred seating location.
Upstairs, you have your pick of the more relaxed bar area with TVs playing various sports or the rooftop patio. While the restaurant’s inside has seen some attractive redesigns, we couldn’t wait to finally visit the rooftop and relive the glory days of JT’s, which we’ve missed dearly ever since they closed.
In addition to locals in Mahomet, diners from all around the Champaign-Urbana area will appreciate the restaurant’s welcoming ambiance and delicious food at Chophouse on Main.
If the food is as good as we remember it being at The Ribeye, then Chophouse on Main will be a hit every time it opens its doors (hopefully later this fall). Go to TheActiveNews.Com for more articles like this one.
