Billy Strings and Micah Nelson, Willie Nelson’s son, performed together at the festival’s stop in Massachusetts.
At the end of Strings’ set, Nelson joined them for a stunning rendition of “Blue Skies,” a song originally recorded by Willie Nelson.
Blue Skies was penned by Irving Berlin and covered by Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, and others before Willie sang it for his 1978 album Stardust.

While Nelson’s voice immediately brings to mind his father’s, Strings’ acoustic performance demonstrates his incredible aptitude for picking up a melody and completely killing it. For the second verse, Nelson is accompanied by strings, who create beautiful harmony with him.
Together, they should perform on stage more regularly.
