This weekend offers yet another platform upon which to showcase Englewood’s achievements. The 16th Ward Alderwoman Stephanie Coleman has announced that Halsted Street will once again play host to the annual Englewood Music Fest.
Live music, a local vendor fair, back-to-school-themed activities and prizes, a video game tournament, and more will fill the entire day.
What to expect at this year’s festival was discussed by Alder Coleman in an interview with CBS 2.
The celebration of arts and culture this year will be a prime example of Englewood’s commitment to excellence.
Definitely a day of safety, as well as a day of community and resources, and a day of giving those wrap-around services for our young people and our senior citizens. This year’s Englewood Music Fest features activities suitable for children of all ages and their parents. And don’t forget to invite Grandma and Grandpa.
Headliners Kindred the Family Soul and rapper Juvenile, as well as local musician Katie Got Bandz, are among the most well-known performers.
Coleman argues that it is crucial to show the community’s positive contributions as well as its violent ones on this occasion.
We have our issues on Englewood and the South and West Side, and in Chicago as a whole, so you can imagine how crucial this is. But the resilience and excellence that typifies Englewood are celebrated at events like the Englewood Music Festival and some of the fantastic events that my colleagues have again on the South and West Side.
The festival is meant to celebrate the past, present, and future of Englewood. The event coincides with Englewood Square Mall’s sixth anniversary.
Halsted and 63rd Street is the location, and the festivities begin at noon.
At least 5,000 locals, both current and formerly based, are anticipated to show up. TheActiveNews.Com has additional details.
