Ramzan Kadyrov Early Life
On October 5th, 1976, in what was then Tsentaroy, Chechen-Ingush ASSR, in the Soviet Union, Ramzan Kadyrov entered the world. Two sisters, Zargan and Zulay, and a brother, Zelimkhan, who passed away in 2004, round up his family. He is the youngest son and second child of Akhmad and Armani. As a child, Kadyrov worked hard to impress his imam father and become as successful as he was.

In 1996, Kadyrov wed fashion designer Medni Musaevna. They have a total of 12 children, including Adam, Eli, Aishat, Khutmat, Khadizhat, and Ashura. Kadyrov is said to have two other wives, Fatima Khazuyeva and Aminat Akhmatova. He is a prominent proponent of polygamy in Muslim-majority Russian republics. When Fatima, his second wife, was 14 years old and competing in a beauty competition in 2006, he met her there.
Some of Kadyrov’s favorite pastimes are equestrian competition, boxing, and MMA. He opened Fight Club Akhmat (after his dad’s name) in 2014. Kadyrov has come into difficulties because of his involvement in MMA, specifically because of a tournament he arranged in which minors participated.

Chechen Wars
Kadyrov and his father fought against the Russians in the First Chechen War in the mid-1990s. In the years following World War II, he drove and protected his Mufti father. Kadyrov and his family defected to the Russian side at the start of the Second Chechen War in 1999, and Kadyrov went on to lead his militia with help from the Russian Federal Security Service. The name Kadyrovites was given to his paramilitary organization.

Kadyrov graduated from the Makhachkala Institute of Business and Law with a law degree in 2004—the same year he was named First Deputy Prime Minister. A few years later, he graduated from Dagestan State Technical University with a Doctor of Philosophy in economics. Kadyrov received his Ph.D. in economics from Dagestan State University in 2015.
