This weekend, Rochester will be grooving to the tunes of the Summer Soul Music Festival.
From Friday night through Sunday afternoon, the 26th annual festival will fill Frontier Field with soul, gospel, and R&B.
Saturday night will feature a performance by headliner Babyface, with more performances all weekend long from artists like Jimmie Highsmith Jr., Jon B., and Lyfe Jennings.
A free neighborhood block party will kick off the three-day festival on Saturday morning. Twenty hiring organizations representing 2,700 available jobs will be present at the job fair. The community can also expect a back-to-school giveaway.
One of the organizers, Varick Vaiynia, said, “We simply want to keep upping the standard from year to year, and one of the great ways to do that is attracting amazing artists and then also conducting wonderful community events.”
“To have Babyface perform in Rochester for the first time was a significant event for us, and we were able to make it happen thanks to your help.
On top of that, we always aim to feature up-and-coming artists from the area.”
On Friday night, from 5 to 11 p.m., the Frontier Field VIP lot will host roughly 24 local artists from Rochester and the surrounding area.
