Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert: Show in London to Pay Tribute After Taylor Hawking’s Death

Taylor Hawkins, the drummer for the Foo Fighters, passed away five months ago, and the band is paying tribute to him with a huge show from London’s Wembley Stadium.

The statement on the Foo Fighters’ website reads, “Taylor was one of the most respected and beloved figures in modern music, and his monolithic talent and magnetic personality endeared him to millions of fans, peers, friends, and fellow musical legends around the world.”

The statement goes on to say that several of these artists will come together for tribute shows on September 3 and September 27 “in celebration of Taylor’s memory and his legacy as a global rock icon.”

Bandmates and influences performing music he loved and helped bring to life, the statement continued.

According to the band’s official Instagram, the gig on September 3 will feature performances by a diverse selection of artists. Here are a few of the headlining acts:

The memorial for Hawkins will be held at London’s Wembley Stadium on September 3. Those interested in witnessing the live performance can do so by purchasing tickets on Ticketmaster.

Based on a report by Pitchfork, fans in the United States can watch the performance live on Paramount+, while those in other countries can watch it on Pluto TV and MTV’s YouTube page. According to the Foo Fighters’ website, the Livestream will kick off at 9:30 a.m. MDT.

From Paramount+ on September 3 and from Pluto TV and MTV the week of September 5 comes the concert’s on-demand availability.

According to the Foo Fighters’ website, CBS will telecast an hour-long version of the tribute event on September 3 at 8 p.m. MDT. A two-hour special will air worldwide in September, and on MTV stations starting September 4.

How Did Taylor Hawkins Die?

The Deseret News stated that Hawkins, a member of Foo Fighters since 1997, passed away on March 25 while the group was in Bogota, Colombia for a concert. Age-wise, he was in the 50-year-old bracket.

Early toxicology results showed that Hawkins had ten different chemicals in his body, including opiates, marijuana, and anti-depressants, according to NPR. An official cause of death has not been announced.

The band Foo Fighters has expressed sadness at what they have described as Hawkins’ “tragic and untimely demise.”

The band members said of him in a eulogy written soon after his death, “His musical enthusiasm and infectious humor will live on with all of us forever.”
