Ventura Music Festival: Entertainment for All Ages Bowling, Foosball, Shuffleboard & Music

The goal of Discovery in Midtown Ventura was to serve all needs. When it first opened at the end of 2013, it provided fun for people of all ages with bowling, foosball, and shuffleboard, as well as a stage for live music and a full-service bar and restaurant.

Both daytime children’s events and weekend nighttime concerts were quite well attended there. However, the vast area was closed due to the pandemic shutdown and several legal issues (co-founder Jeremy Pemberton was detained for fraud in June 2020).

First Class Concerts in Smaller Markets

The Oakland-based “independent coalition of artists, managers, and promoters,” Ineffable Music Group, is responsible for the venue’s revival. They are also responsible for releasing music,

putting on music festivals (of which the California Roots Music and Arts Festival is one of the best known), and running venues in various states, most notably California. Among the organization’s holdings are the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, and the Cornerstone in Berkeley.

Following the epidemic, Ineffable Music purchased the Discovery Ventura building and transformed it into a concert venue with the help of Bruce Flohr (Red Light Management) and Mark Geiger.

“Our goal is music,” says Ineffable Music co-founder and president Thomas Cussins. We’re not the party kind; instead, we arrange concerts.

Ineffable Music’s 2006 inception in Ventura was fortuitous. Cussins calls their target audience “smaller, secondary markets,” and the venues they frequent are a happy medium between dive bars and massive amphitheaters. There shouldn’t be a need for music fans to travel to big cities and spend a lot of money to see live music, says Cussins.

He recommends that you have access to excellent musical acts “without having to take an Uber for more than $100 to Los Angeles.” Having access to both refreshments and entertainment takes the party to a whole new level. We always say, “Let’s go out to dinner and a show.”

Even though arcades and bowling alleys have been removed, Ventura Music Hall is still a family-friendly establishment (for most shows, at least). Cussins held a deep conviction for this view.

He clarifies, “This is neither a bar nor a club; it is a music venue.” We’re hoping that this will encourage families to spend time together while enjoying a show. And young people require a secure gathering space. You can go to TheActiveNews.Com if you want the most recent and most comprehensive news coverage.
