Actor Irving Ramses Rhames is American. He is recognized for his work as the voice of Arby’s commercials as well as for his supporting parts as gang leader Marsellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction (1994) and IMF Agent Luther Stickell in all Mission: Impossible movies from 1996 to the present.
Rhames enrolled at the High School of Performing Arts in New York, where he discovered his passion for acting. His stage name “Ving” was given to him by fellow acting student Stanley Tucci while they were both studying drama at SUNY Purchase after high school.

When Did Ving Rhames Start His Career?
Rhames made his Broadway debut in 1984 in the play The Boys of Winter and his film debut in 1984 in Go Tell It on the Mountain. He then appeared in several television shows, such as Miami Vice, Crime Story, Tour of Duty, Spenser: For Hire, The Equalizer, and Men.
In the 1990s, Rhames rose to fame with his roles in films such as The People Under the Stairs (1991), Dave (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994), Striptease (1996), Con Air (1997), Out of Sight (1998), and Entrapment (1999). Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film went to Ving Rhames in 1998 for his work in “Don King: Only in America.” The Primetime Emmys, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the NAACP Image Awards, the Online Film & Television Association, and the Satellite Awards all considered him for their respective awards because of his portrayal of King.
