Don Lemon is one of the most well-known people on CNN. For years, his straightforward way of reporting has been making news. But in a shocking turn of events, the network said he would no longer work there.
Everyone wants to know why Don Lemon lost his job at CNN. Let’s dive in and discover what’s going on with this unexpected turn of events.
Why was Don Lemon f!red by CNN?
From 2014 through 2023, CNN will be hosted by American television journalist Don Lemon. His birthday is March 1, 1966. At the beginning of his career as a journalist, he hosted weekend newscasts for local Pennsylvania and Alabama television stations.
Lemon was a correspondent for NBC News programs like “Today” and “NBC Nightly News.” In 2006, he started working as a journalist for CNN, and between 2014 and 2022, he became widely recognized as the host of Don Lemon Tonight.
He co-hosted “CNN This Morning” alongside Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow until he was fired from CNN in April 2023. In addition to his Edward R. Murrow and national Emmy, Lemon has received three regional Emmys.
Don Lemon alleges he was fired from his co-hosting role on CNN’s “CNN This Morning” with Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow after only six months. He wrote, “My agent informed me this morning that CNN has terminated me. I am stunned.”

Chris Licht, CEO of CNN, released a statement wishing him well and promised to support him in his future endeavors. What Licht Said
“To my CNN Colleagues, CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be a part of the CNN family and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years.”
He elaborated:
“CNN This Morning has been on the air for nearly six months and we are committed to its success.”
Neither Lemon nor CNN explained why he was leaving. How Lemon received the news was upsetting to him. The man spake thusly:
“I was never given any indication that I would not be able to continue doing the work I have loved at CNN and after 17 years there, I would have thought that someone in management would have the decency to tell me personally.”
“There are obviously deeper issues at play here. Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to the many teams I’ve been a part of over my career. I hope the best for them because they are the most gifted journalists in the field.
According to CNN’s communications on Twitter, Lemon’s claims that he was unfairly fἰred are false. Reports from CNN stated, “Don Lemon’s statement about this morning’s events is inaccurate, He was offered an opportunity to meet with management but instead released a statement on Twitter.”

As of September 2006, Lemon has been employed by CNN. Before taking over “CNN This Morning,” Lemon helmed the nightly news program “Don Lemon Tonight” for over eight years. His candid criticism of Trump, in which he called the president a “racist” and called him out on his lies, propelled him to fame throughout Trump’s administration.
Widespread backlash ensued after he made sexist comments on CNN’s “CNN This Morning” in February. Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has called for competence exams for lawmakers over 70. In an on-air interview, presenter Don Lemon remarked that Haley, 51, “isn’t in her prime.”
According to Lemon, a woman is most attractive in her twenties, thirties, and forties. His co-hosts, Harlow and Collins, pushed back, but Lemon maintained his position. Licht claimed that he and Lemon had a “frank” chat in which Lemon apologized and promised to participate in training formally.
Licht said:
“It is important to me that CNN balances accountability with fostering a culture in which people can own, learn and grow from their mistakes.”
What Lemon Said
“When I make a mistake, I own it, And I own this one as well.”
