Who is Kevin Cronin?
Kevin Patrick Cronin, an American singer-songwriter, was born on October 6, 1951. He is the band’s frontman, performing vocals, rhythm guitar, and keyboards for REO Speedwagon. Throughout the ’70s and ’80s, the band enjoyed a number of successful singles, including Cronin’s “Keep on Loving You” and “Can’t Fight This Feeling.”
Cronin grew up in the Chicago area’s suburbs of Illinois. Although he was born in Evanston, Illinois, he spent the majority of his boyhood in Oak Lawn, where he picked up guitar lessons. He was a St. Linus Elementary School student. He attended and eventually graduated from Chicago’s Brother Rice High School.
Kevin Cronin’s Songwriting Background Exposed
After the completion of REO Speedwagon’s debut album in 1971, Cronin joined the band. He departed the group after recording one album together because of disagreements in style and a lack of practice time. In 1976, after a short time as a solo artist, Cronin decided to get back together with the band.
After Christian Greg X. Volz declined the lead vocal job, Cronin came back to the band. Despite the fact that their popularity peaked in the ’70s and ’80s, the band continued to release new material long into the 00s, such as the album Find Your Own Way Home.
Hi Infidelity, is their most popular album, having sold over 10 million copies worldwide. They are not paid to play, but Cronin claims that travel costs are covered.
“Keep on Loving You,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Keep the Fire Burnin’,” “I Do’ Wanna Know,” “Keep Pushin’,” “Roll with the Changes,” “Time for Me to Fly,” “Here with Me,” “In My Dreams” and “Don’t Let Him Go,” are only some of the band’s singles that he wrote or co-wrote.

Cronin’s voice is that of a dramatic tenor, with a wide range. Cronin appeared in the March 27, 2008, episode of Don’t Forget the Lyrics as a celebrity participant. Back before he blanked on the words to “Last Dance” by Donna Summer, he was sitting on $350,000.
Several REO Speedwagon songs may be found on TimeLife’s Ultimate Rock Ballads, and the singer is featured in the commercial. In the 1980s, the band was at the height of its fame.
