SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA
Members of Miami-Dade County’s School Board are elected by the public. They have staggered four-year terms, and are chosen from single-member districts like state legislators. Members choose a chair and vice-chair each year. Due to a court order, the board now has nine members, up from the previous seven, to ensure that all of Miami-Dade County’s ethnic groups were fairly represented.
District policy is decided by the School Board of Miami-Dade County, which also selects an executive director to oversee the system and carry out the Board’s policies. The School Board Administration Building’s Board Member offices are on the seventh floor.
They can be contacted by phone at (305) 995-1334 or fax at (305) 995-1572.
