According to bolnews.com, “The Bible indicates,” he said to his church in a sermon on September 16th, 2001 “that the love and hope of God and the love and hope that comes from one another has to be rubbed into our grief. And that’s what we’re here to do.”
A recurring theme in his sermons was the issue of tragedy and how people deal with it.
Consolating his congregation in another sermon that year, he said, “Getting rid of your belief in God to handle evil and suffering will not help.”
New York’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church, where Keller served as founding pastor, shared the news of his p@ssing on Friday. In 2020, he was told he had pancreatic c@ncer. His Redeemer City to City program trained evangelical pastors to minister in urban areas, where their numbers were much smaller.
Timothy Keller also posted about his illness:
I have Stage IV pancreatic cancer. But it is endlessly comforting to have a God who is both infinitely more wise and more loving than I am. He has plenty of good reasons for everything he does and allows that I cannot know, and therein is my hope and strength.

The VP of the company, Collin Hansen, adds that Keller aimed “to be relevant, but also to be timeless.” A close friend and biographer, Hansen authored Timothy Keller: His Spiritual and Intellectual Formation.
