After two seasons of critical and popular acclaim, ITV has finally brought The Bay back for a third season.
Since the first two seasons were watched by over seven million people, there is a need for more, and we can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.
The focus of the show has shifted to a new protagonist this time around. New characters have taken over the role of Morecambe CID’s Family Liaison Officer from Morven Christie, who played DS Lisa Armstrong. There is a new newcomer in Morecambe with her baggage and past for us to get sucked into, so we’ve been given a brand new twisting case as well.

Who is replacing Morven Christie in ‘The Bay’?
Marsha Thomason (Cobra, White Collar) joins the cast of The Bay Season 3 as Detective Sergeant Jenn Townsend, the new Family Liaison Officer for Morecambe CID. In an Instagram post, she said she was “so pleased to be joining the great cast” of the upcoming film.
Marsha Thomason was excited to be taking over from Morven Christie when we spoke to her. When she finished, she commented, “This is the best role I’ve ever performed! I was able to be a part of nearly every scene and observe Jen’s daily routine, both at work and home.
It has been a long time since I’ve been in charge of a project, and I’ve never been in charge of anything!” As a result, she said, “I was prepared for this challenge and opportunity.”
Catherine Oldfield, Creative Director of Tall Story Pictures and Executive Producer of The Bay, said, “Daragh and I always thought that there were so many fantastic stories to be told in the universe of The Bay therefore after Morven decided to leave the program, we got right to work finding a new main actor.” As soon as Marsha read for the part, we knew we’d found our new lead, DS Townsend, and that the game was over. Marsha’s stories will be brought to life, and we can’t wait to witness them.
‘The Bay’ Season 3 Plot
In The Bay Season 3, we learn that “DS Townsend’s first day on the job finds her in the deep end when a body is found in the bay. If she hopes to solve the mysterious death of a promising young boxer, she will have to get to know the members of his bereaved and emotionally complex family.
Despite her wanting to help the family, she also has to establish herself as a new member of the team. When Jenn’s new blended family has difficulty adjusting to life in Morecambe, she realizes that starting over might not be as simple as simply moving to a new town.”
Scriptwriter Daragh Carville (Being Human, The Smoke, and Cherrybomb) returns to write the series, which is set to begin filming in Spring 2021.
In our conversation with Marsha Thomason, the star of the show, we learned a few more details about the case. It all started with a vehicle accident, so it’s a lot to cope with,” she stated while discussing her first day on the case. Even though she’s an excellent employee, she lacks self-confidence when we meet her.”
What happened in episode one?
DS Jenn Townsend is killed in a car accident while her route to the school to pick up her children. When she’s done dealing with the tragedy, she rushes over to a mother who is watching the police collect a boy’s body, only to discover that the youngster is her son, Saif Rahman. This is her first day on the job as the new Family Liaison Officer for Morecambe.
They’re then joined by Karen Hobson, who works with the Rahman family and investigates why Saif might be murdered. After Jenn is presented to the team, they begin a full-scale investigation to see if any leads can be found.
It is revealed to Jenn that Saif was in a relationship with someone other than his mother. In the course of their conversation, Jenn finds that Saif and his girlfriend were harassed by several men outside a new nightclub in town, leading to a fight. The teenage boxer’s autopsy revealed evidence of blunt-force trauma, such as being bashed with a baseball bat.
Jordan Rooney is quickly located among the throng by police using surveillance footage they retrieved from outside the club. They find a bat in his apartment when they break in to get Jordan into the station.
What happened in episode two?
Jordan Rooney is taken into custody and interrogated. But he claims to have been at a party the night that Saif was killed, and he isn’t very cooperative.
Jenn informs Saif’s family that a postmortem is planned. Despite their objections based on their religious beliefs, Jenn explains that the coroner must perform the autopsy, and they learn that Saif had to be dead before his body was tossed into the ocean. Because boxing was Saif’s outlet for grieving over his father’s death, Mariam denies that he would have been involved in drug use.
Molly is enlisted to help them track down the other members of the group who had become enraged with them. After being questioned, one of the points the finger back at Molly, who hasn’t told authorities she argued with Saif that night (there’s even a video to show it).
Molly claims she has no recollection of that night’s fight. Seeing Erin, her partner’s kid, soothing Molly in the video brings Jenn’s personal life into the spotlight. She recalls how Molly felt mistreated and how Saif had been flirting with another woman that night and how someone had some ketamine on them, which she confesses when pressed about the incident.
Clarkie and Eddie gather a team of officers and proceed to the gym to search for the narcotics. With a broken phone and blood spatter found behind the club, Tony Manning requests them to focus their investigation on the club to determine if his death occurred there.
As a result, the alibi for Jordan Rooney has been verified, and he has been freed from custody. Jordan later tries to get Adnan to fight him in a nightclub by threatening him. Adnan accidentally punches Jenn in the face as Jenn breaks up the fight. Adnan trashes the display in front of his gym devoted to Saif as he drives home.

What happened in episode 3?
There were a lot of clues in episode 3. Forensics proved that the blood recovered behind the gym was that of Saif, and they also found fibers in Saif’s zipper. The police have begun searching for new leads in the region where they suspect Saif’s body was discarded into the bay.
Even though Clarkie headed to the boxing gym, Jenn and Erin were still searching for new information regarding Saif’s family members. Mariam and Adnan’s mother considered Saif as the family’s “golden boy,” causing tension amongst the siblings.
The night of Saif’s murder, Shirin, the club’s manager, said that Saif had been distracted by a phone call, so he escaped through the back door. Vincent, the owner of the gym where Saif was training, confesses to the police that he knew something was going on but chose to ignore it to protect the gym and keep it open.
Despite Warren’s admission that he purchased anabolic steroids for Saif, he argues that they were Saif’s idea and that he sought them out because of the financial pressures of the fight. During the investigation, the team notices a suspicious vehicle driving away from the gym on the night of Saif’s death. In the automobile, there are two persons, as Jenn has noticed, and forensic evidence reveals, based on the fibers trapped in Saif’s zip, that the car’s interior matches.
Jordan After work, Rooney carries a knife and pursues Adnan. On the floor, Jordan catches Adnan trying to flee, but he ends up cutting Jordan with his knife during the battle.
