But the question during a discussion on Audacy’s Hip-Hop Made podcast caused Kid Capri to consider Eminem and the persistent opposition that Marshall Mathers encounters from some people. Kid Capri gave an explanation in response:
Everybody goes by the popularity of the person instead of the real skill set. They keep going at Eminem because he’s white. You’re mad because he’s doing Black stuff better than you are. The boy is nice, you can’t take that from him. Wisely use his name in your mouth every time. That boy is nice. You can not fuck with him on that tage at all. Leave him alone!
Although it could come off as harsh, Kid Capri is not the only person who feels this way. The same view is held by 50 Cent, and it would be difficult for many of Eminem’s critics to refute it. All of them, including Benzino, Melle Mel, and Nick Cannon, say that Eminem’s popularity is exclusively due to his skin tone. His race is the main cause of their unhappiness because they won’t discuss or accept his abilities.
