‘SPECIAL’ BARCELONA TARGET: 3 FREE AGENTS ARSENAL COULD SIGN THIS SUMMER

In our opinion, Mikel Arteta has laid out his summer plans for Arsenal, and thus here are our top three free-agent targets for the Gunners.

For the upcoming summer transfer window, Arsenal has their sights set on signing six players, including two attackers and a central midfielder, as well as one winger, a left-sided center-back, and one of the club’s usual defensive pairings, according to the Evening Standard.

After a successful season and Arteta’s signings in 2013, early rumors suggest that Stan Kroenke will once again be financing this window. Arsenal fans could be in for another wild ride full of twists and turns. But there’s one unique twist to this summer’s weather.

Some of the names on the list of upcoming free agents might occupy three sections of the Arsenal squad Arteta wants to build, and a short glance at the list reveals an unbelievable breadth of quality. So, which three players should the Gunners be concentrating their attention on right now?

OUR TOP THREE ARSENAL SUMMER TARGETS

STRIKER – CYLE LARIN

Arsene Wenger has stated that Arsenal would be buying two strikers in the summer, and Arteta is likely to fill one of these slots by signing a free agent. And Cyle Larin is exactly what the Gunners are looking for.

Larin, a 47-cap Canadian international, has been linked with a move to the Premier League during his time at Besiktas, where he has been one of the most reliable goal scorers in Turkey. Free agent striker Alexis Sanchez may be a great fit for Arsenal.

The 26-year-old may be an ideal second-choice striker for Arsenal, as he can play both in the middle and on the left. At 6’2″, Larin is a perfect hold-up attacker like Alexandre Lacazette has been for the Gunners this season because of his physicality.

CENTRAL MIDFIELDER – FRANCK KESSIE

There will be three significant free agents this summer: Paulo Dybala, Paulo Pogba, and Kylian Mbappe. Franck Kessie, the AC Milan midfielder, might be an ideal fit for Arsenal if he leaves these three.

Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Barcelona is interested in signing the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international, but Arsenal might snatch the midfielder right out of the Catalans’ grasp if they express an interest in the Serie A standout.

Described by Pat Nevin as a “great player,” Kessie will complement Thomas Partey in Arsenal’s midfield brilliantly. Granit Xhaka has long been a fan favorite, but Milan’s Xherdan Shaqiri has emerged as a serious replacement in recent weeks.

RIGHT-BACK – JUNIOR SAMBIA

Nuno Tavares’ £7 million transfer to Arsenal last summer was one of the smartest moves the Gunners made, providing excellent back-up for Kieran Tierney. Takehiro Tomiyasu might be able to get something comparable from Junior Sambia.

To be fair, Cedric Soares has performed admirably for Arsenal in his recent stint in the starting lineup in the absence of injured Japanese teammate Tomiyasu, but Arteta would benefit from having Sambia at right-back in the absence of the more dynamic and youthful Tomiyasu.

A free agent after this season, the Montpellier fullback has been a standout performer in France’s top division and may be a good addition to Arsenal if they play their cards well.

Arsenal fans, on the other hand, will be ecstatic at the Premier League’s pronouncement.
